Stablecoins have become one of the most successful applications of blockchain technology. For millions of users around the world, they are no longer just a trading tool, but an increasingly important way to hold, transfer, and save in U.S. dollars.

What still feels missing is not access to dollars, but access to the regulated savings and wealth-building products built around them.

That gap is what led us to invest in Olivetree, a company building a platform for regulated, institutional-grade USD savings products delivered through stablecoin rails.

Beyond Simple Yield

Stablecoins have dramatically expanded access to U.S. dollars around the world. While crypto users can already access a growing range of yield products, most are designed for generating returns rather than long-term saving, retirement planning, or wealth preservation.

In contrast, traditional products such as annuities help investors save for retirement, generate income, and manage long-term wealth in tax-efficient ways. These products represent trillions of dollars in assets and are a core part of the U.S. wealth management market, yet remain largely inaccessible to many global investors.

We believe the next phase of digital asset adoption will extend beyond payments and simple yield into wealth management. As the market matures, investors will demand products with different risk, return, duration, and protection profiles, much like they do in traditional finance. Bringing these products to stablecoin users has the potential to unlock a much larger and more durable market.

A New Distribution Channel

Historically, products such as annuities have been distributed through insurance agents, wealth advisors, and financial institutions. Stablecoins create a new distribution channel with global reach, lower friction, and 24/7 accessibility.

We believe one of the most important opportunities in digital assets is not necessarily creating new financial products, but expanding access to existing ones. Companies that can bridge regulated financial institutions with the growing base of stablecoin users may play a critical role in that transition.

Why Olivetree

Olivetree is building a platform that combines regulated annuity products with stablecoin rails. Its initial offering is being co-developed with a major U.S. annuity provider and is expected to launch with approximately $50 million of initial capacity. Unlike many crypto-native yield products, Olivetree focuses on investment-grade savings products backed by established financial institutions.

What stood out to us was the broader vision. Rather than operating as a financial institution itself, Olivetree aims to connect insurers with wallets, exchanges, and other digital platforms. Management often describes this as “Stripe for Annuities” — infrastructure that allows regulated savings products to be embedded directly into existing stablecoin applications.

Over time, the company plans to support products from multiple insurance carriers through a common platform, creating a scalable distribution layer for regulated savings products.

Why We Invested

Our investment in Olivetree reflects a simple view: stablecoins are evolving beyond payments and simple yield into a broader financial distribution layer. As adoption grows, users will demand access to a wider range of savings, income, and wealth management products. We believe platforms that connect regulated financial institutions with global stablecoin users can become important pieces of future financial infrastructure.

We were also impressed by the team’s ability to bridge traditional finance and crypto-native ecosystems. Across multiple conversations, the founders demonstrated a strong understanding of financial products, regulation, and distribution. Their early partnerships with established insurance institutions further reinforced our conviction that the opportunity extends well beyond a single product.

Progress Since Our Investment

We first began speaking with the Olivetree team in June 2025 and spent several months discussing product design, regulation, distribution, and market structure before co-leading the company’s pre-seed financing in February 2026.

Since our investment, the team has continued to execute against its vision. On the product side, Olivetree has expanded discussions with multiple insurance carriers and continues to evolve from a single offering toward a broader platform for institutional savings products. On the distribution side, the company has built relationships across fintech platforms, treasury providers, stablecoin ecosystems, and Latin American neobanks.

We are particularly encouraged by the team’s progress in building the legal, regulatory, and institutional relationships required to bring these products to market. The team’s progress was further validated by its acceptance into Alliance DAO, where it is preparing to present at Demo Day next week.

Looking Ahead

The next chapter of digital assets may be less about creating entirely new financial products and more about expanding access to existing ones.

As blockchain infrastructure matures, we expect more regulated financial services to be delivered through digital asset rails. Savings products represent one of the largest and most important categories within that transition.

Our investment in Olivetree reflects that view. It is a bet that the future of financial infrastructure will not only move money more efficiently, but also make wealth-building tools more accessible to a global audience.

We are excited to support Roberto, Derek, and the broader Olivetree team as they continue building toward that future.

If you are a founder working toward institutional adoption or modernizing financial infrastructure, we would love to connect.
